I’m a lifelong Texan who believes government should serve the people — not dictate to them. With property taxes climbing and energy projects expanding across our county, it’s time to stand up for residents, small businesses, and landowners.
I’m committed to protecting property rights, lowering taxes, and ensuring that county government is transparent, accountable, and limited in scope. My goal is to give residents control over their own lives and resources while promoting policies that strengthen liberty, economic freedom, and smart, locally driven decisions.
My top priority as County Commissioner is reducing the tax burden on homeowners and ensuring families can afford to stay on their land. Property taxes in Texas have become a crushing and unpredictable expense. For many families, the tax bill is now the second-largest monthly cost after their mortgage — and appraisal spikes hit homeowners hard, even when the county rate stays the same. Texans shouldn’t be living in fear of the next tax notice. I believe property ownership is a cornerstone of freedom. You shouldn’t have to rent your own home or land back from the government every single year. As County Commissioner, I will make this issue my highest priority by committing to: Never raising the county property tax rate — not now, not ever. Actively working to reduce the county tax rate year after year by cutting waste and tightening the county budget. Expanding local homestead, senior, disabled, and veteran exemptions to give homeowners immediate relief. Pursuing exemptions and reforms that move us toward eliminating county property taxes for homesteaders — so families can truly own their homes without fear of being taxed out. Bringing full transparency and accountability to the Appraisal District, including oversight of its budget and appointments, to ensure fairness and responsible management. Advocating at the state level for long-overdue appraisal reform, while refusing to let county tax rates rise in the meantime. Texans deserve predictable, stable, and affordable homeownership — not a perpetual lease with the government. I’m running to protect your property, reduce your taxes, and make our county a place where families can build a future without being priced out of it.
All gun laws—federal, state, and any attempted local restrictions—are unconstitutional violations of the natural right to self-defense and the clear command of the Second Amendment: the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Texas law already preempts counties from regulating firearm ownership, possession, transfer, transportation, or carry in most cases, and I will vigorously defend and expand that preemption to ensure zero local infringements in our county. No commissioner, no county ordinance, no budget allocation will ever be used to restrict law-abiding Texans’ natural and constitutionally protected right to arms. As your county commissioner, I will: Oppose any proposal that would create or fund county-level restrictions on firearms, ammunition, magazines, or carry—beyond what's strictly required by state law. Push resolutions declaring our county a Second Amendment sanctuary, committing the Commissioners Court to not allocate resources (budget, personnel, or equipment) toward enforcing any new federal or state infringements deemed unconstitutional. Protect carry rights on county property and in county facilities to the fullest extent allowed by law, ensuring peaceful citizens are not disarmed where they have a right to be. Advocate relentlessly for the repeal of all gun control at higher levels of government, using my position on the Commissioners Court to amplify the voice of liberty-loving Texans and hold state and federal officials accountable. Support local self-defense by prioritizing county resources for roads, bridges, and services that empower free individuals, not bureaucratic controls. In our county, we will never bow to tyrants who seek to disarm the people. Self-defense is not a privilege granted by government—it’s a fundamental natural right. I will use every tool of the Commissioners Court to safeguard that right, block local encroachments, and fight for total firearms freedom for every peaceful resident.
Lamar County has seen increased interest in new forms of energy production, from solar to wind projects. Renewable energy can have a place in a free market — but it must respect the rights of landowners and the will of the community. Decisions about how land is used should remain voluntary, transparent, and locally accountable. I oppose any corporate or government action that distorts the market with subsidies, mandates, or pressure on property owners.
Government should exist to protect your rights — not regulate every detail of daily life. I will stand against unnecessary regulations that harm small businesses, property owners, and individuals who simply want to live free. Policy should focus on peace and prosperity, not control or punishment.
Too often, government agencies grow without clear limits. I support smaller, smarter government that focuses on core responsibilities and spends taxpayer money with the same care a family uses to balance its own budget. Efficiency, competition, and accountability should be the standards for every department in Lamar County.
Local government exists to serve the people — not the other way around. Every decision made with public funds should be open to public view. I’ll work to ensure county spending is transparent, contracts are competitive, and residents have easy access to how every tax dollar is used. When people know where their money goes, government behaves better.
